Annual Review & Accounts
The recession continued to hit the UK charity sector hard in 2008/09 and while Send a Cow’s income for the year dropped to £3.9m from £4.1m in the previous year, this was better than the overall charitable trend.
In response Send a Cow has been prudent in reducing its expenditure and retaining tight cost-control whilst still supporting nearly 16,000 families - an achievement we are very proud of given the pressing circumstances we faced.
Total charitable expenditure decreased slightly from £3.9m in 07/08 to £3.5m in 08/09, in response to the reduction in our income. However, we retained the overall proportion spent on our country programmes in Africa through a review of expenditure and efficiency savings in the UK.
By making these cost savings, we have been able to maintain our high quality programmes and levels of assistance.
We look forward to continuing our hard work and helping even more of the 100,000 people waiting to work with us, to improve their lives and lift them out of poverty for good.
