It may be many years before your legacy gift is received by Send a Cow. When it does arrive, no matter how large or small, you can be certain that your gift will be used to provide sustainable farm training and help families leave poverty behind for good.

For people who have already received help from Send a Cow, one of their biggest hopes is that they will have a legacy to leave their own families. Rather than a future of poverty, they want their children to look forward to a better life and perhaps even have something to leave them when they’re gone.

Mrs Siiya is a member of the Nalugugu Women’s Group in Uganda where Send a Cow has worked for 21 years. She and her husband now have an improved diet and an income, but importantly, they and other group members are also now able to plan for the future and old age. Mr Siiya explains, "we teach the farmers to prepare for old age. You won't be able to do any work. Also death could come at any time."

Many of the families in the Group are investing income in planting trees on their land that could be sold for building houses in the future. They are also planting coffee as an inheritance for their children. "You can plant coffee. When you die, you can leave the plants for your children," points out Mr Siiya.
