How it works
Each family has a skilled extension worker who visits them regularly to help support and guide them along their journey out of poverty. The extension worker also goes to their local Send a Cow office and reports back on the family’s progress, letting us know exactly what they have been doing that month, the training they have received, how it has helped and what improvements are being seen in the family’s life. This is sent to us in the UK and we report back to you – with regular emails and twice yearly updates through the post.
It’s a chance for you to see how your money is directly helping people. Imagine the feeling of excitement when you hear the family has received their livestock, or the children are able to taste a new vegetable for the first time. As well as the highs, we will also let you hear about the challenges the family and their community face. If the rains don’t come, or conversely, if they face floods; if livestock, or members of the family become unwell; you will be the first to know. Learn what training the group has received that month, and find out how the weather is affecting their harvest. Most of all, be encouraged to know that your long-term help will support your family to make that journey out of poverty.
Don’t forget that your money will go towards all the communities in your selected country, not just one. But, if you wish to send messages to the family and group you are following you can; it inspires them every day to know they have your support as they continue on their journey.
