Mpho's food miles

Mpho's food miles

Lessons from Africa

This lesson plan focuses on where the food we eat comes from and the concept of ‘food miles’. It uses the story of Mpho - a four year old boy from Lesotho, who eats vegetables grown in his family’s Keyhole Garden (see Powerpoint file). Where his food is grown is compared to where pupils get their food from. It links well to QCA Geography Unit 8 - ‘Connecting ourselves to the world’.
