Leave a lasting legacy in Africa
10.09.2010
This week sees Send a Cow and over 140 other charities come together as part of ‘Remember a Charity Week’ to highlight the importance of gifts left to charities in wills.
Charitable donations in wills are the foundation of many of Britain’s charities like Send a Cow, creating nearly £2 billion each year - the equivalent of 25 Comic Relief appeals! Find out more about leaving a legacy for Send a Cow.
For the people that Send a Cow supports in Africa, these legacies are a vital source of income, ensuring that our life transforming work can continue – often for generations to come.
To mark ‘Remember a Charity’ week, David Smith, Fundraising Manager at Send a Cow met up with other participating South West charities at the start line of the Bristol half marathon. David said:
“Leaving a legacy is perhaps the most special gift you can give, yet many people in the UK don’t realise that they can give money to charities in this way.
A recent Send a Cow poll showed that most people would consider leaving us a legacy yet only 7% of people in the UK have every considered a charity in their will. That’s why this week we are encouraging our supporters to consider leaving us a legacy and are working hard to show them just how easy and simple it can be.
After looking after family and friends, a small share of whatever is left can make a very real difference to charities like us and the life transforming work we do.”
