Send a Cow signs up to the Global Learning Charter
12.01.2010
Send a Cow has joined the collective fight against climate change, intolerance and poverty by signing up to the Global Learning Charter. Run by DEA, the UK organisation to promote education for a just and sustainable world, the Charter now has over 100 organisations signed up, including NGOs, trade unions, businesses, local authorities and schools.
Research shows that 93% of young people believe it is important to learn about issues affecting people’s lives in different parts of the world. Send a Cow promotes the education of children about global issues such as the environment, farming, sustainability and climate change through its educational projects including Grow it Global – a practical, hands-on school project which has taken thousands of children out of the classroom to meet with UK farmers and visiting African farmers on local farms.
Following launch, DEA and signatories of the Charter will embark on a range of activities including roundtables and practice-sharing sessions to influence policy and practice towards global learning. Send a Cow looks forward to engaging with other members to bring about positive change for our world.
